Britco in Agassiz is known as a modular construction company and they’re up to a few new things, aside from their office building that won a prestigious award at the Modular Building Institute Awards in 2015.
“We build everything from hotels, houses, and condos to industrial camps and offices and we’ve been really busy for a number of years and then we were heavily involved in oil and gas, which stopped, and we’ve spent the past few years shifting gears from oil and gas back into permanent modular construction,” said Britco Director of Manufacturing Tim Epp.
Britco is a bit of a mystery to people according to Epp, who told The Observer, they’re working on several projects including sustainable and green technology.
The company is on the hunt for valuable employees to fill a gap after the company underwent layoffs awhile back.
“We do construction but we do it in a factory environment, so we’re looking for all the same traits as site construction but at the same time, we’re looking for completely green people that we train ourselves,” said Epp. “If you have the attitude and work ethic we can train you in all facets of construction.”
People often have the misconception that Britco only manufactures mobile homes. Currently they’re building classrooms and working on passive technology which is one of the highest green energy standards in the world.
“We do a little bit of everything we do lots of interesting things, we don’t just build the same project over and over again, we do lots of unique projects.”
Britco is bringing the community on board with an appreciation barbecue that will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at their Agassiz location on 1825 Tower Road.
“It’s a free barbecue and we’re inviting the community to come out and have some food and there will be a bouncy house, some face painting, and factory tours so people can actually come into the factory and see what it is that we do and look at the working conditions.”
