Autism not to be feared
Autism is a disability that can isolate a child from his parents, family members, caregivers and teachers, very quickly.
But it doesn't have to be that way, according to a young man who has Asperger's syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism.
Myles McKie has been speaking publicly about his condition for several years now, since he was a teenager, explaining what he went through as a child and stressing the importance of patience and communication. His next talk is in Agassiz on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. at Kent elementary.
Do Not Fear What You Do Not Know is an open discussion and McKie encourages audience members to ask questions about autism and Asperger's.
