Family Day event launched in Harrison
Tourism Harrison is focusing on families this February, with a brand new event that will appeal to locals and visitors alike.
The inaugural Harrison Family Fun Carnival will take place on Feb. 8 and 9, in two locations in the Village. The two days of activities, games, entertainment and fun for the entire family are in celebration of BC’s Family Day long weekend. Admission is by donation.
The Harrison Family Fun Carnival will take place at two venues, St. Alice Hall and Memorial Hall. Families can easily walk between the venues and view the serene Harrison Lake waterfront along the way.
Kids can get crafty at Memorial Hall at the button-making station or by making their own drum at the station led by a Sts’ailes Nation drum maker.
Magician Erik Stephany and one-woman circus, Sand Northrup, will provide entertainment for young and old. Even Sasquatch investigators will be on hand to talk about the elusive mythical Sasquatch.
Of course, no carnival is complete without a face painting station or a scavenger hunt, in this case Sasquatch-themed, and designed to take the whole family around the village.
St. Alice Hall will be sports central with a 40-foot inflatable obstacle course and a junior inflatable sports centre. The little ones can jump their sillies out in the pirate bouncy castle or kick-off some energy with Little Kickers indoor soccer. A mini golf course will also add some entertainment of the non-bouncy variety and is suitable for the older kids.
