Bingo is alive and well in Agassiz, as was proven recently with some big cash winners.

The biggest win has gone to Gwyn Holinaty, who won more than $2,000 in a jackpot earlier in January, at the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association's regular bingo night. Agassiz is home to one of the few independent bingo halls left in the province, said volunteer Victoria Brookes.

"We are smaller than most of the bingos but it lets us get to know our players better," she said.

Games are run every Tuesday night at the Agassiz Agricultural Hall. They start selling cards at about 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m.
