The Miami River Streamkeepers Society is hosting a planting this month.
They are asking volunteers to come prepared with gloves and sturdy footwear to the Hardy Bridge at Spring Park in Harrison Hot Springs, at 10 a.m. on Oct. 17 and 18, with planting planned until about noon.
Volunteers can bring shovels if they have them, but some will be provided. They will be planting native shrubs and trees, purchased through a grant from the Pacific Salmon Foundation Community Salmon program.
Pizza lunch will also be provided.
The tree planting is supported by several local organizations, including the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition, Fraser Valley Invasive Plant Council, Harrison Communities in Bloom, Sts’ailes Title and Rights and Friends of the Harrison Forest.
