The Mission Arts Centre will host a new display beginning Aug. 13.

The Fraser Valley Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists will present its second juried show of 2013.

The first one took place in White Rock earlier this year.

Works in oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel and graphite paintings will be showcased at the event.

“There are 19 artist being featured from all across the Fraser Valley,” said show co-ordinator Sharon Clark.

In total, 38 pieces will be on display.

The works have already gone through a jury system, explained Clark, and the pieces on display are the judges picks.

The top three pieces on display belong to artists Alice Mahon (first), Audrey Bakewell (second) and Jolanta McPherson (third).

"They actually get monetary awards,” said Clark regarding the top three finishers.

The show is open to the public and everyone is invited to see the work of these Fraser Valley artists (from communities between Delta and Chilliwack).

The show runs Aug. 13-31 with an opening reception set for Aug. 17 from 1-4 p.m.

The Mission Arts Centre is located at 33529 First Ave. For information call 604-826-0029 or visit missionartscouncil.ca or fraservalleyartists.com.
