Slideshow: Premier visits Agassiz with Liberal byelection candidate
Premier Christy Clark spent much of Thursday touring the Agassiz area, surprising many local business owners and their staff by stopping in to say hello.
Clark walked down Pioneer Avenue with a small group of people, including Laurie Throness, the Liberal candidate for the impending byelection in Chiliwack-Hope. She stopped by at Lordco Automotive, but just missed manager of the store, and District of Kent Councillor Darcy Striker.
Mayor John Van Laerhoven met up with the group, as they strolled and chatted in the rain.
In Tandoori Bites, Clark shook hands with owner Manprit Gill, telling her about her most recent trip to India. Then, it was off to Park Ave. Restaurant where the owner offered the premier some tea. All along the way, she introduced Throness, while reminding people that a byelection would be coming soon.
The trip also included a quick interview at The Observer, where Clark settled in for a few questions about current events. Clark spoke briefly about a number of topics, including the ongoing teachers' dispute, open government, liquified natural gas, and her party's jobs plan.
