Mountain inmate dies in hospital
An inmate at Mountain Institution has died.
Kyle Darren Tombaugh, 35, was found unresponsive in his cell on August 21.
Correctional officers performed CPT and Tombaugh was transported to Chilliwack General Hospital.
He was pronounced dead three days later.
Mountain officials said that Tombaugh was serving four years and 21 days for theft under, assault with a weapon and attempt of an indictable offense.
His sentence began on November 14, 2011. A search of court records show multiple charges for a Kyle Darren Tombaugh, born in 1977. Court appearances under that name and birth year date back to 1996 and include court locations in Victoria, Vancouver, Cranbrook and Fernie.
