About 300 attend candlelight vigil
Family, friends and Mission residents gathered Thursday night at Fraser River Heritage Park to remember 18-year-old Rachel Pernosky.
About 300 people were at the park for the vigil with candles in their hands and kind words to say about the Mission teen who was found dead in Chilliwack on Tuesday.
Some friends offered touching words about Pernosky.
"We love you Rachel and you'll be in our hearts forever," said one.
Even a couple of people who had never met the popular mother of a one-year-old offered their sympathies to the family and a call to Mission as a whole.
"We do have to band together as a community" during tragedies like these, said one woman who volunteered in the search.
