Masquerade Ball features Treble Hook
Guests to the Valentine's Masquerade Ball (Feb. 8) are invited to create their own masks at home, or purchase a mask at the event.
Or, they are most welcome to come as they are, says Kerry Hilts.
"If you're most comfortable in blue jean, we would still love to see you," he said.
The Valentine's Masquerade Ball is a fundraising dance for the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre expansion. There will be a red and black theme to go along with the timing of being close to Valentine's Day. In addition to the fun themes of the night, there will be plenty to do.
The evening starts at about 6 p.m. at the Ag Hall, with cocktails. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., catered by Over the Top, and there will be a cash bar, games a skill and a silent auction. Live music will be performed by Treble Hook.
Last year's event earned just $13,000 for the expansion project, and this year, the fundraising committee is hoping to raise $15,000. That will put the committee's total raised to just over $300,000 — just $100,000 shy of their grand total goal of $400,000.
Tickets are $50 and available at the municipal hall, the Fitness Activity Centre, the Agassiz library and the Observer.
Earlier that day, the Fitness Activity Centre will be holding a Community Tile Project Day. Staff from the ceramics studio Colour Me Mine will lead a workshop where participants can leave a lasting legacy in the new addition. The cost is $50 per 6"x6" tile or $90 for a 12"x12" tile, and the studio staff will be on hand to give instruction and guidance.
