Smoke and flames on set today

If you've been downtown Agassiz this week, you will have noticed that the film workers have spent the last few days preparing for another shoot.

Another episode of Wayward Pines is being shot today on the exterior set that has been in place since last fall.

Like their last visit, today's shooting will include some special effects. Location manager David Tamkin said this week, technicians will be creating some flame and smoke effects in various spots on the set.

Despite the action, all stores that are normally open will be operating as usual. However, the street itself will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the shoot.

Wayward Pines, a new television series, has been shooting for several months in Agassiz. It will begin to air later this year, and stars Matt Dillon with appearances by several other notable stars, including Terrence Howard, Juliette Lewis, Carla Gugino and Melissa Leo.

While there was a longer hiatus between shoots due to Christmas holidays and inclement weather, the WP production crew's visits to Agassiz will be more frequent from now until they wrap up in the spring.

The crew has been tightlipped on the plot of the show, as it takes a few twists and turns as the lead character (Dillon) tries to make sense of Wayward Pines. It's based on a book by Blake Crouch and was created by Chad Hodge.
