Harrison's mayor pays tribute to Fleming and Young

Harrison's mayor Leo Facio paid tribute at Monday night's council meeting to two people who recently passed away. Both made significant contributions to the Village in their lives.

Kathryn Fleming sat on council for one term, from 2002-2005, while John Allen was mayor. Sitting alongside her as fellow councillors were Facio, Patsy Graham and Will Watchorn. She passed away in late February.

Facio noted that the Village of Harrison has sent a card of condolences to her husband.

Facio also mentioned the loss of one of the area's hardest working musicians. Charlie Young played in the Copper Room for more than 40 years, often alongside his wife, Mary. He helped form the original Jones Boys, was a veteran, and was an accomplished saxophone player.

His last performance was just days before his death at age 94, and was predeceased by his wife in 2008.
