6 of 7 cases of mid-June local COVID cases came from Glenwood outbreak

Three residents, three employees affected

An outbreak at Glenwood Care Centre beginning June 5 parallels with a spike of COVID-19 transmission activity in the middle of June.

According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, the Agassiz-Harrison local health area experienced seven new cases of COVID-19 between June 6 and June 12. This marks the highest spikes in six weeks; Agassiz-Harrison numbers have been lower than double digits since the end of April.

According to a June 10 report, the Glenwood Care Centre is up to six cases of COVID-19, three residents and three staff members; there were three cases – two residents and one staff member – when the report was released a few days prior. There are no deaths connected to this outbreak.

Kent Elementary School reported an exposure event June 3 to 4, the first COVID exposure in area schools since mid-January. The Fraser Cascade School District 78 has experienced seven exposure events since the beginning of the pandemic.
