The Agassiz branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has stepped up with a $2,000 donation to the Ashcroft Legion to use in support of firefighting efforts in the region.

The initial donation has grown, with BC Hydro announcing a donation match.

The Ashcroft branch has been serving the firefighters and line crews, and the funds will go toward much-needed food and supplies.

Despite already making this important contribution, the Agassiz Legion members continue to support victims of the fire.

A burger and brew night will be held Friday, July 21 at the Agassiz branch (1846 #9 Highway). Profits from the event will go to the Red Cross. The legion will also be open starting at 3 p.m. each day Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday to accept donations to the Red Cross.
