Police dogs were deployed yesterday in the area of Beach Camp Road off the Lougheed Highway following an assault with a weapon complaint.

A 34-year-old male is reported to have threatened another male and make an attempt to hit him with a bat before departingthe scene on foot.

Agassiz RCMP responded to the complaint and were assisted by the Integrated Police Dog Section “who attended and tracked the male suspect through a wooded area,” Sgt. Darren Rennie says in a press release.

According to Rennie, the male surrendered when he saw police closing in and was taken into custody without incident.

“We attended and set up containment allowing the police dog to attend and track the male. It was a successful outcome as no one was injured and the male was taken into custody,” Rennie says.

The male has been transported to Chilliwack Provincial Court to face recommended charges of Uttering Threats and Assault with a Weapon.
