RCMP closed down a drug lab just outside of Agassiz on Sunday morning.

The RCMP’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response team closed down a meth lab just outside of Agassiz, early Sunday morning, after a major synthetic drug lab was located after a search of a former service station Lougheed and Cameron Road in Agassiz on Saturday, July 30.

"There were no injuries,” said said 'E' Division Staff Sgt. Rob Vermeulen. “Lougheed Highway was briefly shut down during the warrant execution but has since reopened. No evacuations were required and the site has been rendered safe.”

Fire crews and ambulance were standing by as a precaution.

"A large scale synthetic drug lab was located; however, at this time we are unable to say what drug was being produced. There is no danger to the public. Neighbouring properties were advised of the situation," said Vermeulen.
