Drugs seized at Mountain Institution

Prison officials estimate package worth $15,000 in institutional value

Correctional staff at Mountain Institution near Agassiz intercepted a package containing drugs Tuesday morning.

While they did not specify what type of drugs were seized, or how much, they provided an estimate of $15,000, institutional value.

A press release from the Assistant Warden Management Services states that the Correctional Service of Canada is using a number of tools to try to control the flow of drugs into prisons, including an ion scanner and drug dogs.

It did not specify how the drugs were found.
