Grad trip ends with rollover

Teens traveled to Othello for tipsy celebration, RCMP say

A group celebrating graduation is lucky to have walked away from a car crash last weekend.

RCMP say a Chevy Blazer with seven people inside rolled on Othello Forestry Road on May 19, at about 7:45 p.m.

They immediately initiated an investigation for impaired driving. This was a single vehicle rollover, resulting in non-life-threating injuries to many of the occupants.

The driver was a 17-year-old from Langley, and the group had traveled to the area to celebrate their upcoming graduation.

"This is an accident that could have had a devastating impact on the community ," said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck.  "We really can not be any more clear, drinking and driving do not mix."

Crown counsel will be assessing several possible impaired driving charges against the driver.
