Staff at Mountain Institution in Agassiz yesterday made another seizure of nicotine patches at the medium security federal institution.
Along with a other unauthorized items, the total estimated institutional value of the seizure is $4,800.
This seizure follows a larger seizure of contraband in September, when nicotine patches with an institutional value of $18,690 were discovered among incoming packages to the prison.
In 2008, tobacco was banned in all public spaces and workplaces in B.C., including federal government facilities such as prisons.

Smoking cessation products were permitted for purchase within institutions but have created problems among inmates.
