Mission RCMP are searching for a suspect who rammed a police car and evaded authorities Friday night, despite the use of a police dog and helicopter.

Sgt. Shaun Wright said in a press release that at about 11 p.m., members of the street crimes unit observed an individual whom they know is prohibited from driving. He was observed parking a vehicle near Stave Lake Street and Seventh Avenue. They approached the vehicle and attempted to apprehend the suspect driver.

He reversed his vehicle into an unmarked police vehicle, which suffered moderate damage, said Wright. The suspect drove through a red light at that intersection and fled. The vehicle was located a short time later in the 33300 block of 12 Avenue.

Wright said police will be seeking charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer and driving while disqualified.

Police are trying to find and arrest 45-year-old Agassiz resident Laine Poulson. The public is cautioned not to approach Poulson but to immediately contact police if he is located. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161. If you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
