Anne Antonia Maria Roberts
1947 - 2017
Anne Antonia Maria Roberts, a woman who loved the outdoors, and to experience new adventures, left on her final journey on February 27, 2017. Anne was born in Holland on the last day of 1947, and came to Phelpston, Ontario in 1954 with her parents, the late John and Catherine Van Vught. In 1971 she married her husband of 45 years, F. Douglas Roberts from Elmvale. They raised two children, Jennifer (Andrew Cusack) Geneva and Christopher (Myle Truong) Vancouver. Anne is also mourned by her siblings, Nellie (Anton) Jorritsma, Rita (Lloyd) Squire, Jackie, Casey, Sjani (Joe) Craig, Hank (Jannie) and Tina. She was predeceased by her brother, Johannes. Most of her career was spent teaching for the Simcoe County Separate School Board, until she retired in 2002. They then wintered in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Her three grandchildren from Vancouver were the reason for their move to Agassiz, BC in the summer of 2015 and Mia, Khai and Sloan will certainly miss their Oma. Her many kayaking, biking and hiking friends in Lake Havasu and in the Midland area will also miss her warm smile and her positive attitude. Special thanks to all the nurses at the Chemo ward at Abbotsford Hospital, and to the nurses at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Anne's name will be gratefully accepted. At her request no service will be held.
