August 25, 2007

MARTIN SR., Edward (Ted)

Edward “Ted” Martin was born February 3, 1926 in Agassiz, BC, son of Luke John and Frances Martin. Ted passed away peacefully in Polson Multi Care Unit on August 25, 2007 at the age of 81.

Ted will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Diana; son Ted Jr. and wife Dawne of Vernon; daughters Tara of Vernon, Jeannette and husband Al Beix of Surrey, and granddaughter Sydney and grandson Dylan of Vernon. He is also survived by sister, Mary (Peter) Harder, brother Larry Martin of Surrey, and brother Tom Martin of Saanich and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Ted was predeceased by step-son Doug (Paddy) Fraser in 1995, and infant sister Kathleen.

Ted operated Service Stations in Vancouver, Anaheim, California, and Vernon, before retiring from Coldstream Auto Wreckers in 1992. A resident of Vernon since 1975, Ted enjoyed wintering in Arizona and summering at the cabin on Okanagan Lake. Ted loved attending the Annual Corn Festival in Agassiz, driving his ’67 Barracuda and spending time with the family pets.

At Ted’s request, there will be no funeral service, but friends are invited to join the family to celebrate Ted’s life at his favourite “watering hole” the Blue Heron Pub on Okanagan Lake, September 25, 2007 from 2-5pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted to Spina Bifida Association, 4480 Oak Street, Vancouver V6H 3V4; or Hospice House, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon V1T 1S4.

The family wish to thank the wonderful staff at Polson Multi Level for the many kindnesses shown to Ted and his family.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Vernon Dignity Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
