Franciscus Johannes Joseph Peters, 88. It is with heavy hearts we announce his sudden passing on November 10th, 2016, 13 days before his 59th wedding anniversary. Frans was born in Hernen, the Netherlands on March 30th, 1928. After helping on the family farm he went on to become a police officer. In 1956 he immigrated to Canada with the love of his life Adriana (Jenny). They settled in Vancouver and subsequently moved to Richmond where they bought their first home. Honouring dutch tradition, he named the family home after his wife, our Mom, “Jeannie”, which was prominently painted on the front gable for over 34 years.

He worked at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital until his retirement in 1993 and later that same year moved to Harrison Hot Springs. Frans was well liked and respected by those he worked with. He was an honest, hard working man of integrity and compassion. His life was characterized by his love for his family. He treasured time spent with family and enjoyed gardening and camping. He loved spending summers packing up the tent trailer and the kids and heading to Skaha Lake in Penticton. Husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather; he was our constant gardener. Though his branches got thinner each year and the leaves fewer, his proud trunk always stood tall. He was a man of few words who loved his family with quiet strength. He loved his children passionately, without demands, or at least if he had any he hid them well. He is survived by his wife, Adriana (Jenny); daughters Bonnie (Blair) Kent; Sonja (Robert) Reyerse; Jenny (Richard) Peters; sons Roland (Lianne); Frank, and Harvey (Cris); 13 grandchildren: Kelsey, Megan, Alexandra, Robbie, Luka, Raf, Laura, Jazz, Zane, Ethan, Grace, Tielo and Oakley; 3 great-grandchildren: Piper, Alekzander and Dexter. In respect of our fathers wishes there will not be a service.
