HELKENBERG; Frederick John


29th January 1918 - 18th September 2016


It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Helkenberg, in his 99th year. Born in Provost, Alberta, he was the longest living resident in Harrison Hot Springs. Fred came to BC in 1939. He worked on Harrison Lake for Paul Raake Services and then for RivTow for 44 years retiring in 1983. The last 2 years he was at Cheam Village Care Home, Agassiz. Fred is survived by his children Ted (Ellen), David (Ruth), Millie (Vernon) and Glenn, grandchildren, Becky (Josh), Rachel (Jordan), Eric (Sara), Heidi (Landon), Clayton (Heather) and Amy, and 8 great grandchildren Emma, James, Olivia, Maren, Alex, Max, Myla and Jase. He was predeceased by his sister Ann Wietzel, brother William Helkenberg and daughter-in-law, Denise Helkenberg. The family would like to thank the staff at Cheam Village for their care and support the last 2 years he resided there. There will be a Celebration of Life, at the Agassiz Royal Canadian Legion at 2 pm, 8th October 2016.
