Patrick Ernest
Patrick Ernest Church died January 23, 2005. He was born in Joseph, Oregon on October 16, 1928. He moved to Colfax and then to Spokane where he attended Gonzaga High School. At 17 Pat joined the American Army and served in Japan. Returning to Spokane he attended Gonzaga
University. After graduation he
entered the Society and taught at
Gonzaga and Tacoma. In 1968, Pat left the Society and immigrated to
Quebec to teach for Indian Affairs at Kanawaga. In 1985, Pat worked as a principal in Hazelton for a year.
He is survived by his wife Joellen, stepchildren: David Martyn of Kelowna, Do and Louise Martyn of Yarrow,
Bonnie McComb of Sidney, Margaret Martyn and Lance Fortt of Vancouver and 8 grandchildren; his sister and her husband; Helen and Earl Baer of
Seattle and their children, brother Richard of Seattle, niece Maureen
DeBiasio of Nelson and nephew Tom Norton of New York.
Pat was an avid and accomplished golfer and a dedicated community
volunteer. He will be sadly missed. He enriched many lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
