August 12, 1917- January 15, 2008.
Mondy passed away at Chilliwack General Hospital on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in her 90th year. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her son Kurt (Fran), daughter Olga (Dean), grandsons William and Kurt, cousin George Benini in California, and numerous friends here and in Austria. She was pre-deceased by her first husband Kurt (1944) and second husband Kurt William (Bill) in 1991.
Mondy was born in Graz, Austria, where she earned her Doctor of Law Degree at Graz University. She practiced family law in Graz, Vienna and Berlin. In 1955, the family emigrated to Canada, settling in Fernie and then in Burnaby, where she lived for the next 50 years. In 2006 she moved to Logan Manor in Agassiz.
Mondy was very devoted to and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She enjoyed history, political discussions and world travel. She had visited many places, including China, Japan, the Middle East, Egypt, and South America.
Mondy found comfort in her faith and was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Parish (New Westminster) and recently of St. Anthony’s in Agassiz.
We wish to express our appreciation to the staff of Logan Manor and in particular, to Dr. L. MacIntosh and the staff of Chilliwack General Hospital for their compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, January 26, 2008, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 7237 Morrow Rd. in Agassiz. Prayers will also take place on Friday January 25, 2008 at 7 PM St. Anthony of Padua. Fr. John Tritschler celebrant. Internment will be at Valley View Cemetery, Agassiz and a reception will follow at St. Anthony’s Church hall.
If preferred, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mondy’s memory to the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, 385 East Cordova St., Vancouver, B.C., V6A 1L4.
