HAMPEL, Vera Victoria (nee SWYCK). 1945 Armstrong, BC - 2013 Camrose, AB. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Vera Victoria Hampel (Swyck) in the early hours of October 17, 2013 in Camrose, Alberta. Vera was raised in Agassiz and always considered herself a "BC girl." She obtained her Bachelor of Education degree from the

University of Alberta and her Masters of Education from the University of Calgary. Vera recently retired from her 37 year career as an Assistant Principal with the Calgary Board of

Education, where she touched the lives of parents, colleagues and most importantly: so many children. Vera was an outstanding teacher who worked tirelessly and relentlessly in her career. Honesty, education and hard work were the values that she treasured most. Vera was larger than life, an amazing role model who lived life to the fullest. She is survived by her three children, Bradley Hampel (Ann-Marie), Craig Hampel, and Kyla Joyce (Greg); sisters Sonia Gorchynski (Orest); Myronia Smith (Bill) and brother David Stewart (Doris)(Orest Swyck) as well as several nieces and a nephew who were close to her heart. Vera had seven grandchildren of whom she was a proud grandma. She never missed being with them at every moment and every milestone in their lives. She was predeceased by her loving parents Hania and Metro Swyck and her baby sister Oksana. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, Calgary Alberta.
