Agassiz’ own shoebox saint

Dear Editor,

In reading this weekend’s Chilliwack Progress, I noticed an article about the Operation Christmas Child drive in Chilliwack.

In Agassiz we are fortunate to have a volunteer who, for several years now, has co-ordinated a drive on her own. Her name is Elaine Jones and every year, the number of shoe boxes she gives out and collects back in increases. She then makes sure all the boxes get to Chilliwack to the drop-off centre.

I think she deserves a big “Thank you” for doing this and I am sure a lot of children overseas will have a much happier Christmas when they receive one of these boxes.

The destination country differs each year and is chosen by the organizers of Operation Christmas Child.

Elaine co-ordinates this through our church, The United Church, but we get people from the general population of Agassiz/ Harrison who take boxes to fill.

Thank you Elaine.
