Chilliwack Chiefs hockey boss Brian Maloney acquired the veteran defenceman he was after Thursday, completing a deal on BCHL trade deadline day.

Maloney sent 18 year old blueliner Will Dow-Kenny to the Vernon Vipers, getting 20 year old Mitch Andres in return.

In 41 games with the Vipers this season Andres collected one goal and 15 points. At six-foot-two and 205 pounds he brings size to the back end.

“While it was difficult to let an asset like Will go, he’ll have more opportunity to play and develop in Vernon as they were looking to get younger,” Maloney said. “With Mitch, we got the experienced D-man we were looking for to help our younger group.”
