Since I was a teenager, The Agassiz Fall Fair and Corn Festival have felt like the official launch of Autumn.

With 117 years of the Fair and 73 years of the Corn Festival these traditions have been such important events in shaping the community and have created so many memories for families and individuals.

The theme “Agassiz Strong” could not be more fitting this year, as we have watched our friends, family and neighbours work on the front lines and make difficult sacrifices to keep each other safe since the beginning of the pandemic. Thank you to all those who have done their part, including by getting vaccinated against COVID-19. I am so grateful that because of the strength of the people here in Agassiz and area that we can come together as a community again.

I want to also say a huge thank you to the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association for all the hard work they put into this event, and for making sure we can all celebrate safely this year.

See you there!

Kelli Paddon, Chilliwack-Kent MLA
