The grads are coming! The grads are coming!

Agassiz Elementary Secondary School (AESS) is hosting a graduation parade to honour the class of 2020 on Saturday (June 13) starting from AESS at approximately 5:30 p.m. The parade acts in lieu of the traditional graduation ceremony as traditional gatherings aren’t possible this year due to the pandemic.

The grad parade was “making the best of a bad situation,” said AESS principal Greg Lawley.

Between Thursday (June 11) and Saturday (June 13), graduates can invite up to nine family members to a 20-minute individualized ceremony at AESS’s gym, complete with red carpet, archways and decorations. Scholarships will be handed out, and there will be video speeches from the superintendent, local municipal and First Nations leaders as well as the class Valedictorian.
