At about 10:30 a.m., parents and community members are welcomed to join students for their solidarity community walk through Agassiz. Students will be back by 11:15 for lunch break.

Sept. 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, still also known as Orange Shirt Day. The day honours children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools as well as their families and communities.

Founded by Phyllis Webstad rom the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation, Orange Shirt Day began as an Indigenous-led commemorative day to recognize the impacts of residential schools on individuals, families and generations within First Nations communities.
