The BC SPCA is gearing up for its Paws for a Cause walk set for Sunday, Sept. 8.

The Chilliwack and Abbotsford branches will be teaming up to present a day full of fun at Vedder River Park for the annual fundraiser, which includes a five-kilometre walk, activities, prizes and more.

“We’re excited to be able to offer a dog-friendly Yellow Dog Brewing Beer Garden,” says Tess Repenning, BC SPCA manager, peer-to-peer and community fundraising. “There’s also going to be a delicious selection of food, a tent for all kinds of children’s activities, plus a number of other vendors to come and visit.”

Repenning says it’s not too late to sign up.

“This event is a win-win for everyone. Not only will you be able to enjoy the day with all the people – and the animals in your community – you’ll also be doing your part in the fight against animal cruelty.”

Whether you’ll be fundraising on your own, with your friends and family, or as a corporate group, you’ll enjoy fundraising support leading up to the big day, adds Repenning.

You can also learn more about how your participation and fundraising dollars will help domestic, farm and wild animals right across the province. Go to walk.spca.bc.ca for more info, or to register for Paws for a Cause.

Walk registration opens at 11 a.m. on the day of the event and the walk begins at noon. Stay and experience the festival, which runs until 4 p.m.
