From the Lions Den: Men to vie for coveted crown

From shaved legs to fantastic head wear, men doll up for charity

Miss Maria Slough does love the guys, especially those who are brave enough to vie for her coveted crown and title — Queen of the Valley Sloughs!

Previous winners included the 6’ Carmen Miranda Danda, complete with shaved legs, moustache and fantastic fruit hat. The current titleholder is Miss Sally Sasquatch, a 6’3”, 285 lb. beauty from Deroche! Who could ask for more?

Our motley crew of contestants has given lively performances in the talent contest – did you ever see a cross dressing belly dancer in a kilt? What about a singer with a bosom filled with cd’s, scarves, and a few other odd goodies?

Our bathing beauties leave much to the imagination – thank heavens!

The evening gown competition sorts the men from the boys – pardon the pun! High heels can be a riotous challenge for these gals!

We still have space for fearless gentlemen bold enough to wear a dress for a good cause. Contestants, 18 and older, are welcome from any club or organization. Complete registration details are available from Joey at 604-796-9951.

The event is on Saturday, Apr. 26, and the Ag Hall will rock with laughter all night. Dinner, dancing to the oldies style of the Foot Tappers, prizes and raffles round out an evening of the valley’s best old-time burlesque show. Tickets can be had from Jean at 604-794-7503, Darcy at Lordco or other local Lions.

See you there!
