Garage sale supports local youth programs

Despite YIP closure, community services keeping youth active

A local business that has supported the Youth Inclusion Program is continuing to do so despite the worthy program coming to an end.

Agassiz All Storage is busy this week preparing for what will be their fourth annual fundraising garage sale, Saturday, June 21. In  past years, the money raised has gone to help YIP deliver programming to local youth. YIP is a government funded program run through Agassiz Harrison Community Services. It was intended to run for five years, and will hit that milestone in July.

Agassiz All Storage is hoping to raise $1,500 to help the youth involved go on a camping trip to Osoyoos, where they'll get a chance to go waterskiing. Last year, the sale raised more than $1,000 and helped send the kids to the Sushwap for three days of recreational therapy.

Local teens are helping spread the word about the sale by putting posters up around town, and anyone wanting to support their trip can stop by the garage sale to buy a pop or hot dog.

The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Agassiz All Storage at 7651 Industrial Way.
