When it comes to Canadian heroes, sometimes our own pets fit that bill by rescuing drowning swimmers, alerting to smoke in a house fire, serving as guide dogs for a number of disabilities, or providing solace when we are worried or upset.

On Canada Day in Harrison Hot Springs this year, we are recognizing human Canadian Heroes Past and Present through the costuming of our dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, or other special fur babies.

So, dress up that Jack Russell as Sir John A., bring out the Louis Riel in your schnauzer, or get Laura Secord’s spirit in your tabby! Any and all pets are welcome, and of course the owners may wish to get into the mood of the day as well by donning togs appropriate to the chosen hero or heroine.

Join us at St. Alice Hall at 10 a.m. on July 1 to register, then march with us at 10:30 a.m. to the Harrison Plaza to show off your duds and allow the judges to see everyone strut their stuff! Judging will take place, and then all can disperse. Come on, pet owners, show your Canada 150 spirit!
