Canada Day's local celebrations include a bike parade on Pioneer Avenue in Agassiz.

Canada Day in Agassiz is going about as retro as it gets.

The theme for this year's celebration, hosted by the District of Kent, is "Prehistoric Party." The day's activities will kick of at the parking lot of the Aberdeen building on Pioneer Avenue with a pancake breakfast courtesy of the Agassiz-Harrison Aquanauts, starting at 8 a.m. The Canada Day parade steps off at 10 a.m.; those interested in decorating and riding bikes in the parade should arrive at Pioneer Avenue before then.

Following the parade will be the singing of O Canada with a welcome message from a representative from the District of Kent. The welcome booth will open at 10:15 a.m., where members of Kent's council will hand out patriotic cupcakes, courtesy of Cabin Fever Junction.

Activities throughout the morning and afternoon will include a climbing wall, inflatables, a reptile display, children's crafts and more.
