Kent elementary school in Agassiz was one of many schools across the country to hold Olympic-themed sports events last Friday, the opening day of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.
Students from every grade gathered in the school's gymnasium for an afternoon of fun sport activities that mimicked those our Canadian athletes are competing in, from biathalon to speed skating. Each student came prepared, dressed in their assigned county's colours and flying giant flags they made in class. Countries represented at Kent last Friday included Switzerland, Jamaica and Great Britain, but not Canada.
Students cheered wildly as their teammates (mixed grades) competed against each other, and dozens of parents showed up as spectators.
