Kindness through cookies on Hope movie set

Hope home baker offered up a dish Hallmark film crew just couldn’t refuse

A Hallmark film crew were treated to some old-fashioned Hope hospitality last week, as they set up for a wintry Christmas scene in Memorial Park.

Annelie Krumm was passing by and chatted with a few as they set up a hot chocolate booth for a scene in the romance flick. They had the carafes of hot chocolate, and some cups. But Krumm saw right away that something was missing.

“I asked them if they’d like some homemade gingerbread cookies!” she told The Standard.

Of course they did. They offered to pay for the delicious treats, but Krumm didn’t want any part of that. She went home and whipped up a few batches of treats for the set, and brought along a pretty display for them to use.

The home baker takes a lot of pride in her creations, and was thrilled that they will make a small-screen appearance in the movie. It will air television on Dec. 5, according to the Hallmark website. It stars Laura Osnes and Stephen Huszar, who were also in town throughout the week.

While Hallmark is currently calling the film This Time of the Year, Osnes has been referring to it on social media as Homecoming for the Holidays.

Bringing by the cookies meant she had the chance to “shake paws” with both stars on set.

She wanted to share the joy with other Hopians, and let them know a little bit of Hope’s kindness made it to the movie set.

“My cookies are going to be famous,” she joked.
