Missing and Murdered of Canada honoured at Agassiz Sisters in Spirit vigil

Candles lit to honour lives of women, girls and two-spirit people lost

Visitors quietly lit candles, wrote messages and had a moment of silence for missing and murdered Indigneous women, girls and two-spirit people and their families at the Agassiz United Church Thursday night.

Organizer Debbie Hansen talked to the Observer about why people gather every year, and how the event helps to support the families of the missing and murdered.

Sisters in Spirit vigils are held across Canada.
