Locals have the chance to get to know all about the Harrison Mills Community Hall.
The Harrison Mills Community Club is hosting a St. Patrick's-themed pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Community Hall, 1995 School Rd. in Harrison Mills. All are welcome to attend to enjoy pancakes, sausages and the company of your fellow community members.
The pancake breakfast is $7 for adults and $20 for a family of four.
In addition to breakfast and the chance to test your luck of the Irish at the prize wheel, there will be an informational booth available for those curious about the upcoming Child Play Drop-In program, chair yoga, hall rental and much more.
The Harrison Mills Community Hall is nearly 100 years old. It was first erected in 1942 and weathered the catastrophic Flood of '48. In October 2023, Harrison Mills Community Club board member Jeanette Lepine organized a GoFundMe campaign, which raised $485 toward repairs and upgrades to the beloved building. The Agassiz-Harrison Lions Club recently donated $1,000 in support of the upcoming Harrison Mills Community Child Play Drop-In.
The Harrison Mills Community Child Play Drop-In begins soon, launching March 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Community Hall. Two other dates are set for April 4 and April 18, also from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, contact Jessica Vandyk at 778-378-8599 or jessicacory@outlook.com. The cost is $5 per family for Community Club members and $10 for new members.
The Community Club has recently amended their bylaws to expand their potential membership area to include not only families from Lake Errock and Harrison Mills but also to Agassiz, Harrison Hot Springs and beyond.
The hall is home to a variety of activities that bring the community together every week, including floor hockey, badminton, card games and more. Chair yoga has been particularly popular recently with more than 30 attendees flocking to local social media to invite their friends for the next session.
