PHOTOS: Fun in the sun for Paddle Expo 2018 and National Indigenous People’s Day

Harrison’s Rendall Park filled with fun for all ages

First Nations students of all ages from Seabird Island, Chilliwack, Mission and Langley filled Harrison’s Rendall Park on Thursday for Paddle Expo 2018 – a day for youth to enjoy water sports of all kinds, including paddle boards, kayaks, outriggers, dragon boats, ocean-travelling canoes, two-person clipper canoes and even war canoes.

The day coincided with National Indigenous People’s Day, a Canada-wide initiative celebrating culture and wellness in communities across the country and sparking more than 100 events across B.C. alone.

Rendall Park hummed with energy Thursday afternoon as youngsters splashed in the cold lake, older students, teachers and parents took off on boats and elders watched from ashore.
