The popular Chilliwack Restorative Justice Annual Bike Auction has moved online.
Normally, the sale would take up the parking lot at Bernard elementary, with those looking for great deals for two wheels would scour the inventory before moving into a live auction. The bikes come from those seized by RCMP, and the money raised all goes to Chilliwack Restorative Justice.
But with the COVID-19 pandemic, things had to look a little different this year.
Instead, they’ve broken up the inventory into several small lots of 10-15 bicycles. Every Monday morning, Chilliwack Restorative Justice posts the bikes on their Facebook page and opens the bidding. There are still rules for minimum bids, and the increments for the bidding are listed under each bike’s photograph.
Bidding closes on the Thursday of the same week, and the winners are notified immediately of how they can pick up their new wheels.
Payments need to be made by the Saturday of each week, via e-transfer or PayPal.
There have already been two weeks of bike auctions, with many bikes not receiving bids yet.

The Chilliwack Restorative Justice and Youth Advocacy Association is a volunteer based non-profit organization aimed at fostering a safe and caring community. The mandate of the organization is to bring youth offenders and victims together in order to discuss criminal incidents and to find ways to repair the harm caused.
