A group of classic British automobile enthusiasts is once again raising money for Chilliwack General Hospital.
The Fraser Valley Classic Car Show, a fundraiser for the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, returns to Chilliwack on Sunday, June 8.
That day, dozens of vintage vehicles will be on display throughout the Chilliwack campus grounds at the University of the Fraser Valley. In the past they’ve had upwards of 120 entries.
"Last year we raised $19,000 for the Chilliwack General Hospital, a large portion (more than $14,000) from our raffle car," said Fraser Valley British Motor Club member Bruce Webster.
The car that's being raffled off this year is a 2005 Mini Cooper convertible. The donated car has 162,000 kilometres on it, and a current market value of $3,200 to $7,900. Tickets are one for $5, three for $10, and seven for $25. Ticket sales will end at 2 p.m. on June 8. Full info on the car and raffle, including ticket sales, is available at fvccs.rafflenexus.com.
Funds are also brought in through sponsorship, admission/parking which is by donation, a 50/50 draw, and people who register their vehicle for the show. Vehicle registration is $25, and folks can register their car online at fvccs.ca.
There are four major classes this year: American, modified, British and import; there will be a trophy awarded to the winner of each category, plus a people's choice award. Motorcycles and projects are also welcome.
There will also be food trucks and prizes, and the draw for the 2005 Mini Cooper will happen at 3 p.m. on June 8.
The Fraser Valley Classic Car Show is Sunday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Caen Avenue and Dieppe Street. For more, go to fvccs.ca.
