Science World on the Road visited Agassiz last week to bring interactive experiments to local families.

Science World on the Road made an electrifying return to Agassiz-Harrison, much to the delight of local families.

The hands-on science demonstration came to the Community Recreation and Cultural Centre (CRCC) on Wednesday, March 19. The Science World team – with the help of local kids – conducted a variety of experiments, from static electricity to the power of lift.

Science World's On The Road program goes from community to community across B.C. to bring dynamic live demonstrations and activities to students who might not otherwise be able to visit Science World in Vancouver. They last travelled to the Agassiz-Harrison area in March 2024.

Science World On The Road began in 1988 – before they even opened the museum's current location the following year. Until 2005, the program was funded through donations or on a fee for service basis. From 2005, to 2012, thanks to support from the provincial government and donors, the program expanded to offer free school visits across B.C., reaching more than 1 million students in grades K-12.

Today, Science World On The Road travels beyond the Lower Mainland to communities large and small, remote and rural, to deliver science in a fun, interactive way to more than 30,000 students every year.

Science World is a nonprofit science centre "that engages learners across the province in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and design and math."
