Spring Break has already kicked off in Agassiz and Harrison, and despite pandemic restrictions there’s still lots to keep the kids entertained.

The District of Kent’s Community Recreation and Cultural Centre is holding a number of activities and crafts in its gymnasium each day between March 15-19 and March 22-26.

Each day has a different theme: Monday’s Ninja Day has already passed, but there is still time to catch Winter Wonder (Tuesday, March 16), Science Day (Wednesday, March 17), Dino Day (Thursday, March 18) and Pirate Party (Friday, March 19).

Next week will feature Under the Sea (Monday, March 22), Bugs Life (Tuesday, March 23), Superhero Day (Wednesday, March 24), Beach Day (Thursday, March 25) and the Olympics (Friday, March 26).

The CRCC events cost $2 and are open to kids ages six to 12, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Advanced booking is required, and participants must adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Parents can register their children online by visitingkentbc.ca/recor by calling 604-796-8891.

The Agassiz Library is inspiring families to get out of the house and get involved in a scavenger hunt for missing books. Books are hidden in storefront windows throughout Agassiz, and families can win a prize by finding them all before March 27.

Forms for the scavenger hunt are available at the Agassiz Library or on their Facebook page.

In Harrison, the Ranger Station Gallery is featuring the work of Greg Laxton-Ekberg in its newest exhibition.

Laxton-Ekberg has been featured in other galleries in the area before — his exhibition at the Ranger Station Gallery in 2020 had to be turned into a virtual show due to COVID-19 restrictions. This newest exhibition will share Laxton-Ekberg’s abstract paintings of forests and trees, focusing on new ways of looking at composition, contract and colour.

Laxton-Ekberg’s show will be on display in the Ranger Station Gallery until March 28. The gallery is open weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and weekends noon to 4 p.m. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, only two people or one household group is able to enter the gallery at a time.
