Thousands gathered throughout Agassiz-Harrison to celebrate Canada Day once again.
The day's festivities featured prehistoric-themed fun in Agassiz and time-honoured traditions such as the pet parade, live music and a grand finale of fireworks.
Fraser-Nicola MLA Tony Luck spoke in Harrison Hot Springs, happy to be among those celebrating July 1 and excited to be working with elected officials and electors in the riding.
"I just drove down from Merritt this morning, and I went slow, just enjoying the scenery and this beautiful province we live in. It's just an amazing place," Luck said in a speech at Civic Plaza. "I get a little choked up when we sing O Canada. I see different people from all over the world that have come to this country to build Canada to what it is today."
Luck said his mother's grandparents came to Canada 90 years ago in the 1930 from Europe.
"I'm so thankful that they came to Canada," he said. "I was able to be born here in this amazing, amazing country, and I'm so grateful for that."
