VIDEO: Harbour seal takes a rest in Harrison Lake

Videographer Jeff Magnusson spotted the seal while kayaking

It certainly wasn’t a mermaid sunning itself on the rocks of Harrison Lake.

While on an expedition on the lake early Sunday morning, local kayaker Jeff Magnusson spotted a harbour seal resting on a rock. The seal spotted him and quickly shuffled back under the water, but not before Magnusson captured a bit of video footage.

Harbour seals are common on the west and east coasts of North America and they can measure up six feet in length and weigh nearly 300 pounds.
