With a masterful blend of bluegrass, roots and folk all with a classical flair, the Andrew Collins Trio has a little something for everyone.

The Andrew Collins Trio will head to Harrison Hot Springs, slated to perform on Friday, Jan. 31 at the Harrison Memorial Hall. The show begins at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:30 p.m.

Harrison Hot Springs marks the second stop on a string of four shows through B.C. Columbia with five more scheduled throughout early February after a brief stop on Orcas Island, Wash. on Feb. 4. Their destination following Harrison is Half Moon Bay.

Andrew Collins, frontman of the trio, is well rooted in the acoustic music scene across Canada. He first made his mark co-founding the Creaking Tree String Quartet and the Foggy Hogtown Boys. In addition to composing, producing, arranging and writing genre-bending music, he brings several instruments to the band, including fiddle, guitar, mandola and mandocello.

Fellow string artists Mike Mezzatesta and James McEleney make up the other two members of the trio. Mezzatesta is a specailist in guitar, mandolin, fiddle and mandola while McEleney keeps the music going with bass, mandocello and vocals.

The Andrew Collins Trio recently released a double album, Tongue & Groove, featuring 11 vocal tracks and 11 instrumentals. The album features quick-fire improvisation between the band members, something they’ve come to be known for in their live performances all across North America.
