Don’t worry, Harrison. Your ticket to Funkytown is still good.

The Harrison Festival Society has notified ticket holders of the Big Easy Funk Ensemble show that a new date has been set. The New Orleans-based band is now scheduled to play Memorial Hall on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19 prompted the Festival Society to postpone the show, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15.

“We are hoping by that time, we will have a handle on Omicron, or at the very least, more information about how can make the event as safe as possible,” the Festival Society wrote. “If the situation remains unstable, we will of course need to re-evaluate again.”

Anyone who purchased tickets will automatically have their tickets transferred to the new date and time unless ticket-holders tell the Festival Society otherwise. Alternate options include gifting the tickets to someone else or receiving a credit toward future shows.

Founded on Mardis Gras in 2014, Big Easy Funk Ensemble (BEFE for short, pronounced “beefy”) is a nine-member funk band with influences from 60s funk icons The Meters and Dr. John to modern funk masters Galactic and Trombone Shorty.

Tickets are still available for sale online as of Monday, Jan. 10, but there are only 100 total available.

Doors to the BEFE show open at 6:30 p.m.; concert-goers are encouraged to come early to allow for time to check and scan vaccine cards. The show will be two 45-minute sets with a short intermission. A bar and concession stand are available, but due to current COVID-19 restrictions, dancing is prohibited.
